Last Tuesday evening, a group of volunteers adorned Nicholson Street with Christmas decorations, giving the street a festive feel for the month of December.
“We are very fortunate that we’ve been able to place the photo prop on the vacant block along side the lyrebird which Neil Findley Creations made, and we are encouraging people big or small to come along and have their photos taken,” committee member, Samantha Reynolds, said.
Lucky Shopper started last week, with the first of three weekly draws throughout December starting when local stores take their coupons to Jane Crofts at Andrew’s Land and Surf.
Any purchase made in a participating local store over $20 goes into the draw.
The weekly winners will receive a $100 Orbost Chamber of Commerce Gift Card and at the Orbost Christmas Eve Festival, all accumulated coupons from the month will go in to the draw for the grand prizes and receive the following amounts: first – $500, second – $200 and third – $100 of Orbost Chamber of Commerce Gift Cards.
Last Saturday, December 3, the street was a buzz with locals and tourists wandering Nicholson Street and perusing goods at the Vicar’s Christmas Market which had gifts, Christmas cakes and preserves on offer, with the proceeds going to the Orbost Food Pantry.
