Vicbream Classic action will return to Gippsland on the weekend, with round five of the 2024 series being hosted by the seaside village of Marlo.
The town will come alive on Friday for the official pre fish, before two days of lively action on the water on Saturday and Sunday.
More than 50 teams of two anglers will take to the water over both days, between 7am-2pm.
The lure and fly event sees the team fish together, targeting a combined bag limit of five bream per day to weighed live and released.
The estuaries boasts some of the best perch and bream fishing to be found anywhere in Australia, along with yellow eyed mullet, trevally, tailor, luderick, and other associated species.
Marlo is truly a fisherman’s paradise, the sheltered waters allow fishing year round in most weather conditions.
Last time the Vicbream Classic circuit was in Marlo was in March last year, when Lakes Entrance father and son combination, Lindsay and Steven Pryke were victorious, leading from start to finish and weighed in 10 bream for a combined weight of 10.6 kilograms.
They finished ahead of Shaun Clancy and Jarrod Healey (9.97kgs) and another local team, Paul and Justin Conn (9.47kgs).
The biggest fish of the tournament was landed by Bruce Robinson and Michael Newman who weighed in a cracking bream weighing 1.55kgs.
Other local anglers to take to the water will include Bradley Baade, Peter Stephens, Bowen Joiner and Ben Hanscombe.
Let’s hope Marlo doesn’t disappoint.
