It’s been more than two years since the Black Summer Bushfires burned across the country, destroying homes, land and animal habitat.
As parts of Australia continue to recover, others are still struggling to rebuild.
Over the past two years, the East Gippsland environment has slowly recovered, despite issues attributed to the global pandemic.
While the world has slowed down over the past two years, bushfire recovery has been moving at a snail’s pace.
An example of this is the boardwalk at Sailor’s Grave, East Cape Conran.
The iconic boardwalk, which begins at East Cape and ends at Cowrie Bay, was built in stages between 1995 and 1996 by the Moogji Aboriginal Council in conjunction with Parks Victoria and DNCR. It’s just one of many tourist attractions yet to be rebuilt, causing mounting frustration from locals.
