Another disappointing loss for the Orbost Snowy Rovers reserves has seen them drop right out of contention for a finals berth in 2024.
After being outclassed by an improving Wy Yung outfit at Bullumwaal Road, the Blues currently sit in seventh place on the ladder with 12 points, three games behind Lakes Entrance who currently occupy fourth spot.
Neither side could manage a goal in the first quarter in tricky conditions, but it was the Tigers who eventually found their mojo, kicking 11 goals to two in the final three quarters to win by 61 points.
Struggling for numbers early in the year, the Tigers have made a mid-season resurgence and are a realistic chance to play finals.
Andrew and Hayden Kenny both kicked a goal for the Blues who were light on for numbers, with several players missing from the senior side with injury.
Orbost’s better players were Todd Griebenow, Andrew Kenny and young Rusty Morrison, who continues to impress.
The Blues thirds had the bye and are currently sitting second on the ladder, four points behind Lindenow.
Barring a dramatic turnaround in their form they look assured of a one-two finish, access to the vital double chance.
The East Gippsland Football Netball League will enjoy a competition bye this week, with Orbost’s next game on July 13 against Paynesville at AJ Freeman Reserve.
